Wencai Ren is a professor at the Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He received his Ph. D. degree in materials science from IMR, CAS in 2005, and worked with Prof. Andre K. Geim at the University of Manchester from 2009 to 2010. His research interests mainly focus on the synthesis of graphene and other two-dimensional materials and their applications in energy storage, composites and optoelectronics. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers in Nature Mater., Nature Commun., PNAS, Adv. Mater., etc., and filed more than 20 patents. He has received several awards including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, National Award for Youth in Science and Technology, and the 2rd Class of the National Natural Science Award.
