Xuanhua Li is a professor in Northwestern Polytechnical University. He received his B.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Wuhan University of Technology in 2003.07, and his M.S. degree in Chemistry at University of Science and Technology of China in 2007.07. After that, He started his doctoral studies under the direction of Prof. Wallace Choy and received a Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering in 2014.04 at University of Hong Kong. After a short research as a research assistant in the Institute of Intelligent Machines (Hefei), CAS, he began his career at the Center of Nano Energy Materials, Northwestern Polytechnical University (2014.07-present) as a professor. 
His research is focused on synthesis, characterization, and energy/environmental application of 2D semiconductor nanomaterials. He is also interested in plasmonic-enhanced organic solar cells and sensors.

A novel NPs-film coupling system is demonstrated by introducing monolayer graphene as well-defined sub-nanospacer between Ag NPs and Ag film. Our results show that the system offers tremendous near-field enhancement with one of the highest enhancement ratio reported to date in the graphene-metal plasmonic combination system. The strong near-field enhancement is beneficial to trap more light in the graphene hybrid solar cells. By replacing the metal film with n-type silicon film in the metal NPs-metal film system, we find a plasmonic-enhanced graphene-silicon hybrid solar cells is obtained. Thanks to strong light trapping, the power conversion efficiency enhances by 25% as compared to the control device. Our results suggest a new approach to achieve higher enhancement in graphene-silicon solar cells.
