Professor of Nanotechnology in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, UK; Founding Director of the Cambridge Graphene Centre; Director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Graphene Technology; Chair of the Executive Board and Chief Scientific Officer of the EU Graphene Flagship; Co-founder of CamGraPhIC, a graphene photonics company. His research covers the growth and characterization of graphene and other nanomaterials and their applications in electronic and photonic devices, with a focus on breakthroughs in the application of graphene and layered materials in optoelectronics, optical modulators, and photodetectors. His representative achievements include hundreds of papers published in international journals, making him one of the most highly cited scholars in the field of graphene and two-dimensional materials; he holds multiple patents and has founded several start-ups. The CamGraPhIC graphene optical transceiver chip he has promoted received EUR 211 million in EU funding and is aimed at energy-efficient hardware for artificial intelligence. At this conference, he plans to report on the progress and industrialization prospects of graphene and layered materials in photonics, optoelectronics, and energy-efficient optical interconnects for artificial intelligence.
