Biography

Professor Bai Yongxiao is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Materials and Energy, Lanzhou University, director of the Institute of Soft Matter and Advanced Functional Materials, director of the Gansu Provincial Carbon New Materials Industry Technology Center, and dean of the Chengdu Fangda Carbon Research Institute Co., Ltd. He received his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and Physics from the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Lanzhou University in 2006. From 2009 to 2011, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Michigan in the United States. In 2011, he returned to China to establish a team and independently carry out graphene methodology research. His research mainly focuses on graphene preparation methodology, graphene–polymer advanced functional composite materials, graphene health materials, and sodium/lithium-ion battery energy materials and devices. He has published more than 80 SCI papers in journals such as Advanced Fiber Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, and Composites Science and Technology, and has been granted more than 50 Chinese invention patents. In 2013, he joined the China Graphene Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance on behalf of the Lanzhou University team. Since 2019, he has jointly built the Lanzhou University·Fangda Carbon Graphene Research Institute with Fangda Carbon. All five collaborative projects were completed with high quality, and nine invention patents were granted. The graphene composite functional non-woven fabric and graphene masks developed by the team have been industrialized (the masks obtained EU certification and won an award at the Shenzhen High-Tech Fair), and the team is currently advancing the research and development of graphene composite hemostatic dressings and silicon-based anode battery materials. In 2025, the team developed a new method for preparing sodium-ion battery cathode materials through anion complexation, with the results published in Angewandte Chemie International Edition. At the conference, he plans to share the transformation path of graphene composite functional materials from the laboratory to the production line.

Important Honors: Gansu Province "Outstanding Think Tank Expert" (2025); Council Member of the China Graphene Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance; Standing Council Member of the Fiber Materials Modification and Composite Technology Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society; Director of the Gansu Provincial Carbon New Materials Industry Technology Center.
