Head of the Processing Group at Graphene Labs, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), Italy; Scientific Director of BeDimensional, an IIT spin-off company (and co-founder of Cambridge Graphene Ltd); Deputy Director of the Innovation Work Package of the EU Graphene Flagship, where he previously led the development of the Flagship's ten-year science and technology roadmap. His research focuses on solution-based processing, spectroscopic characterization, and polymer composites of graphene and two-dimensional materials, as well as their applications in energy and electronics, including solar cells, lithium-ion batteries, light-emitting devices, and anti-corrosion coatings. His representative achievements include more than one hundred papers published in journals such as Science, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Photonics, and Advanced Materials, and he holds multiple patents. He was named a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher in 2018. At this conference, he plans to report on the industrial-scale production of high-quality two-dimensional materials (liquid-phase exfoliation/wet milling) and progress in their applications in energy storage, energy conversion, and anti-corrosion coatings.
