Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Florence, Italy; from 2020 to 2023, he was Professor of Molecular Nanomaterials in the Department of Materials at the University of Oxford, UK, and a Royal Society University Research Fellow (URF). His research focuses on molecular electronic and magnetic nanomaterials, including single-molecule magnets and molecular spintronics, as well as the integration of carbon nanomaterials such as graphene nanoribbons with molecular magnetism into electronic and spintronic devices for quantum information and energy technologies. His representative achievements include a foundational 2008 review on molecular spintronics published in Nature Materials, a 2018 Nature paper reporting magnetic edge states and microsecond-scale coherent manipulation in graphene nanoribbons, and a 2025 paper in J. Am. Chem. Soc. on phase detection in single-molecule interference; his Google Scholar citations exceed 8,000. At this conference, he plans to report on the magnetism of molecular nanomaterials and graphene nanoribbons, single-molecule quantum coherence, and their frontier applications in spintronics and quantum technologies.
