Associate Professor, Department of Condensed Matter Physics, University of Barcelona (UB), Spain; member of the Functional Magnetic Materials and Nanostructures Research Group; formerly a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellow and Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2). He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, in 2007 (supervisor: B. J. van Wees), and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research in superconducting electronics at MIT in J. S. Moodera's group. In 2009, he joined ICN2 and later moved to the University of Barcelona. His research focuses on spintronics in two-dimensional van der Waals materials, including spin torque, spin pumping, spin-orbit effects, and magnon-phonon-photon coupling. He has published approximately 40 papers in journals such as Science, Nature, Nature Materials, Nature Physics, and Phys. Rev. Lett., and has contributed to representative achievements including the realization of the spin ratchet (Science 2010), perpendicular magnetization switching (Nature 2011), and the magnon-drag thermopile (Nature Materials 2011). He has also led multiple Spanish national research projects. He is scheduled to give a talk on the latest advances in spintronics based on two-dimensional materials.
Honors: 2015 IUPAP Young Scientist Award in the field of magnetism; 2016 Certificate of Honor from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
