Professor Qiu Jieshan is currently a professor at the College of Chemical Engineering, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, deputy director of the university's Academic Committee, director of the "Novel Carbon-Based Functional Materials" Key Laboratory of the Petroleum and Chemical Industry, and director of the China Coal–BUCT Coal-Based Carbon Materials Joint Engineering Research Center. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, a Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education, a national-level candidate of the National "Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project," a young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions at the national level, an expert receiving the Special Government Allowance of the State Council, and a Fellow of the Chinese Society of Micro-Nano Technology. He also serves as vice chairman of the Presidium of the Advanced Materials Society Alliance of the China Association for Science and Technology. He has long been engaged in research on materials chemical engineering and energy chemical engineering, and has achieved a series of innovative results in the design and construction of functional carbon materials, efficient and high-value conversion and utilization of coal, and the design of key materials for solar cells/supercapacitors/sodium (potassium)-ion batteries. He has undertaken and completed more than 70 scientific research projects of various types, including Key R&D Program projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, four Key Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Major Research Plan projects, and many technologies have achieved industrialization and large-scale application. He has also participated as a major drafter in the formulation and revision of multiple national standards. He has published more than 900 papers in journals such as Nature Materials, PNAS, Advanced Materials, Energy & Environmental Science, Nature Communications, Angewandte Chemie, and JACS, with total citations exceeding 67,000 and an H-index of 128. He has applied for and been granted more than 170 invention patents. He has been continuously selected as a Clarivate Global Highly Cited Researcher (2018–2025) and an Elsevier China Highly Cited Scholar for many years, and has won 18 provincial and ministerial-level awards, including the First Prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, the First Prize of the Liaoning Provincial Natural Science Award, and the First Prize of the Natural Science Award of the Chinese Society of Particuology. At the conference's Future Energy Forum, he plans to share design strategies for functional carbon materials in energy storage devices.
