Chair Professor of Flow Chemistry at the Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences (HIMS), University of Amsterdam (UvA), the Netherlands (since 2020). He received his M.Sc. in Industrial Chemical Engineering in 2004 and his Ph.D. in Organic Synthetic Chemistry from Ghent University, Belgium, in 2009, after which he went to MIT as a Fulbright postdoctoral fellow to conduct research on continuous flow methodology in S. L. Buchwald's group. From 2012 to 2020, he worked at Eindhoven University of Technology (as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor), and was promoted to Full Professor at the University of Amsterdam in 2020. His research focuses on flow chemistry, homogeneous catalysis, and organic synthesis, with a commitment to green manufacturing through photochemistry, continuous flow, and electrochemistry. He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed papers, has developed methods such as continuous-flow photochemical transformations, single-atom catalysis, and continuous-flow organic electrosynthesis, and coordinates the EU Marie Curie ETN projects Photo4Future and PhotoReAct. He is scheduled to share insights on the applications of flow chemistry and continuous-flow green manufacturing in the field of advanced materials.
