Biography
Professor Vladimir Falko, Professor of Condensed Matter Theory at the University of Manchester, UK, and Director of the National Graphene Institute (NGI), and leader of the Fundamentals Work Package of the EU Graphene Flagship. He is one of the UK's leading condensed matter theorists and has made major contributions to the understanding of the electronic and optical properties of graphene, including the discovery of bilayer graphene. He is one of the initiators of the European Graphene Flagship, founded the "Graphene Week" conference series, and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the IoP journal 2D Materials. He holds a global leadership position in fundamental research on graphene and two-dimensional materials and has played a key role in fostering the formation of the European graphene research community.
